Quality Content

I'm not writing this post to share the old basic thoughts on 'Why Quality Content is Important' but i'm writing this post to let you know 'How some bloggers have taken their career's to extreme heights by generating quality content'.

How they are getting :

  • Loads of organic traffic
  • Maximum social shares
  • large number of comments
  • Exposure

The points i'm going to point out can be used by any blogger to improve the quality of his or her content.

What's Pleasing the Search engines :

The SerpIQ examined the top 10 search results for about a 20,000 keywords.

They noticed that every webpage that was ranking in the top 10 results has an average content length of 2000 words.

Average Content Length for top 10 results in Google :

    • #1:  2416 words
    • #2:  2494 words
    • #3:  2492 words
    • #4: 2341 words
    • #5: 2327 words
    • #6: 2223 words
    • #7: 2127 words
    • #8: 2138 words
    • #9: 2087 words
    • #10: 2032 words

The higher the ranking the more content the webpage has.

This a solid proof that writing detailed and quality posts always give you a plus point in the ranking

After all content really is the king.

Another plus point of generating quality and detailed content up to 2500 words is that it is most likely to be ranked for a bunch of long tail keywords.

The good part about them is that they don't get searched a lot and thus they have low competition and it is easy to rank for them.

When you calculate all of the traffic you'll be getting by ranking well for a bunch of long tail keywords then you will realize that it is really worth it to write detailed and quality content.

    Searchers are Getting Smart :

Do you know that there is been a continuous boost in 8 word searches from the last few years where in 2004 no one searched that long queries.

Which indicates that in the future the number of smart searchers will increase and for sure the traffic of webpages that are ranking for them will increase too.

The Secret of Social shares :

Take a look on one of your blog post's traffic and then compare it with the social shares it got.

Do you think the post has got enough shares keeping in mind the traffic it has received so far ?

Have you ever wondered how some blogs get more than thousands of tweets, Facebook shares and G +1's.

Well for sure the main reason is there traffic but still some posts get thousands of social shares and some don't even get the half of it.

    What Readers Love :

For sure a reader always shares a content when he thinks that the content is providing some useful and unique knowledge that's worth sharing.

I'm going to share some stats about 'What readers like to share'.

#1.Neil Patel in one of his posts shared the posts that got the most social shares.

    • The posts having 1500 or  < 1500 words got an average of 174.6% tweets and 59.3% Facebook shares.

    • Where the posts having content of > 1500 words got an average of 293.5% tweets and 72.7% Facebook likes.

As a result the content that had more than 1500 words was successful in getting 68.1% more tweets and 22.6% more Facebook shares.

These figures were taken by comparing content length, doesn't matters on which topic the post was if it had more than 1500 words it got the most social shares.

How to get the maximum traffic Available for a post :

By the heading, i mean't how can you drive the maximum traffic available on your blog and the search traffic you get, to a particular post.

When a reader is on your homepage and is looking for some useful posts, he doesn't judges the posts by their content but he or she judges the posts by it's title.

Doesn't matters how valuable your content is.If you don't mention it's level of quality in the title then no one will be interested in spending their time to read it.

    Titles Really do Matter :

One of the most interesting ways i found for generating awesome titles was on Quicksprout.

Neil quite a few times shared one epic way of generating awesome titles on his blog which he learned from his friend.

Basically the idea was that 'Your titles should be that effective that they should grab the attention of drunk people'.

Neil tested this method on one of his posts which he was going to call '11 Business Philosophies you Should Ought to Follow' but the drunk person wasn't that pleased, at last when Neil came up with the title '11 Business Philosophies to live and die by' the drunk person gave a green signal .

Guess what, Neil got about 3 times more Twitter traffic and 926 people read that post in 24 hours.

That is just what an awesome headline can do for your content.

It is just the reason why John Morrow says to' To spend 2.5 hours thinking about a magnetic headline when you have 3 hours to write a post'.

Choosing a magnetic headline that attracts attention even at midnight isn't a rocket science, all you need to focus on is :

    • Choose words that explain what the post is offering to the reader.
    • Choose words which define the quality of your content.
    • Make your titles astonishing.

Another way of way of getting amazing headlines is that you can check out other blogs to see which headlines worked for them.

First few seconds matter a lot:

Do you know that quite a lot readers navigate away after reading 2 to 3 sentences and after spending 0-15 secs on the web-page.

The reason behind this behavior is that the readers found the content boring.

To avoid this John Morrow of copyblogger used one of the best tactics.

Guess what, he started his posts by telling some kind of stories that are related to the topic.

If you study human nature you will find that we like stories better than conversations and conversations better than lectures.

That is just the reason why we all see sleepy faces in college during lectures.

So getting back to John ,here is the post in which this tactic was used :

#1.On Dying, Mothers, and Fighting for Your Ideas

In this post John started the post with the story of a disease he got and how her mother worked hard to keep him alive.

    Now the results :

    • Tweets: 659
    • G +1's : 300

One of the most popular posts of that year.

    What about Exposure :

Now the last but the most important thing that we all want as a blogger, is Exposure.

Have ever checked the backlinks of some most popular blogs in the niche.

Well, if you haven't then let me tell you one thing they all have thousands of baclinks to their blogs.

You know how they manage to get that much backlinks ?

Do you think it's possible to get 6000 or more backlinks in a few years to your blog ? Doesn't matters which way you go for building backlinks whether it is Guest posting, blog commenting or what so ever.

Do you think they made that much backlinks by using one of those methods ?

    The answer is, Hell no.

Then what really was the magic they got?

The magic was their content. They produced such quality content that others in their niche couldn't stop their selves to mention them and the knowledge they shared in their blogs.

They made mistakes and learned from them, they made experiments and shared the results.
That was just all they did to get the exposure everyone dreams off.

We all can get that too but only if we put our extreme efforts in creating quality content.

    Conclusion:

That was just a tiny bit of effort from me to let you guys know that the importance of creating quality content is way more than we all can ever imagine and how the content proved to be the turning point for some bloggers.

On a short note if we do the following then surely we have a great chance of improving the quality of our content :

    • Write quality and detailed content. (Only for those topics that need to be written in detail you don't need to stretch a topic to 1000 words if it can be covered in detail in 500 words. It's about covering that much that after reading, the reader won't have to Google anything about that topic again).

    • Create magnetic titles.

    • Grab attention in the first few lines.

    • Share your personal experiences that can be helpful for readers.

What tactics do you have in store to generate quality content ?
Was the content worth a share?
